We have demonstrations of heritage crafts, self-led family activities, seasonal trails, guided tours and exhibitions. There may be living history groups training on site, or costumed interpreters in our buildings when you visit.

English Civil War Weekend
Return to the 17th Century with Sir Marmaduke Rawdon's Regiment of Foote as it prepares to march and join King Charles' Royalist army at Oxford.

Medieval Festival
This Easter we’ll be taking you back to the 14th Century when the Plantagenet Medieval Society return to the Museum for three days of action, excitement and pageantry.

May Day Merriment
Be transported back in time to the Elizabethan era, and have an insight into the lives and festivities of that period. There will be music and dancing and a display of firepower. Soldiers will lead new recruits (the audience!) in a military drill, and there will be a display of fine swordsmanship. In between, you can explore the encampment and see what is being eaten, drunk, made and mended.

Carriage Driving Show
We will be hosting the the Bucks, Beds and Herts British Driving Show where you can see traditional and modern horse drawn carriages in arena parades.

Wands, Chuggies and Chairs - a Storytelling Event
What links Harry Potter, Highwaywomen and Sour Cherry Soup? Each reveals a curious facet of life, tradition and belief in the Chilterns. But what exactly, and how, you’ll have to come along and find out, when storyteller Saul Jaffe weaves some surprising, funny, and entertaining yarns.
