Meet the Soldiers of the English Civil War
Return to the 17th Century with Sir Marmaduke Rawdon's Regiment of Foote as it prepares to march and join King Charles' Royalist army at Oxford.
It is April 1643 and Rawdon is training his soldiers before they leave the Chiltern Hills. Come and watch the muskets firing, and the Pikemen demonstrating their hand to hand combat skills.
Try-on the armour and have a look at the weapons used by soldiers of the Civil War.
Find out what is a 'Wall-Gun' and how it can protect the Museum from attack.
Younger visitors can be trained how to be soldiers by the Pikemen, and maybe we can persuade them to enlist before the regiment departs for Oxford...
Please note that all activities are subject to change and weather.
