Costume Team Update: January 2025

This week we joined the COAM Costume team to find out what they’re working on. This talented group of volunteers meet every few weeks to make beautiful garments for the Museum. Paying close attention to the detail of the period stylings, they have created many outfits for our costumed interpreters and staff.

The COAM Estate Manager Rachael is the latest recipient of a bespoke garment. This Victorian smock has been lovingly created by several of the Costume Team and Rachael was thrilled to try it on.

After a few adjustments Rachael will be able to wear the smock as part of her authentic agricultural workers outfit.

The Costume Team have spent many hours perfecting the stitching and embroidery on the smock.

A second smock is currently in progress.

The team are also creating a traditional shirt and waistcoat for Rachael, along with wax trench coats for our Land Girls. We can’t wait to see the finished garments.
